Brian is one of the artists at SlingShot. He has a HUGE affinity for cars and trains! When he is on the main Alpha campus, one of his favorite things to do is to go up to the administration offices and ask the staff to print pictures of ’51 and ’52 Chevys for him. He usually comes up with a very specific request including color and features of the car he wants. He will study the pictures that come up on a Google image search before choosing one very carefully as the one he wants to be printed. He carries around stacks of the pictures in his treasured collection. Brian is quite talented in replicating these cars in his drawings and woodworking. He tends to use bright colors and often focuses on greens and oranges. He has also created some eye catching cityscapes in his characteristic linear style. Below is a short conversation/interview that one of the teaching artists had with Brian recently at SlingShot.
Q: What do you like about being at SlingShot?
A: Drawing things. I like to draw ’51 Chevrolets and ‘52’s. And trucks. And trains. I like army trucks.
A: They’re being kind to us.
Q: What kind of mediums do you like to use?
A: Colored pencils, ink pens.
Q: How do you feel when you make art?
A: Pretty good.
Q: How do you feel when you sell art?
A: Then I can buy a toy ’51 Chevrolet
