On Sunday, September 7, 2025, Alpha Resource Center will host our Harvest of Hope Gala at Imagine Park at our Cathedral Oaks campus.
This year, Alpha is proud to honor some of our remarkable supporters, the Janeway Family. The Janeway family helped create Katie’s FUNd, Alpha’s Social Recreation Program, in July 2003 to honor the life and joyful spirit of their daughter, Katie Janeway. Today, Katie’s FUNd continues to bring laughter, connection, and enrichment to Alpha participants through inclusive social activities.
The gala will highlight the impact of Alpha’s other programs with amazing firsthand success stories from participants and their families. And, of course, there will be great food, drinks, entertainment, live and silent auctions, and much more.
Maureen, Terry, Chris, and Katie moved to Santa Barbara from Chicago in 1998. Terry had joined PlanMember Financial Corporation, then and currently, as SEVP & Chief Operating Officer. Maureen commuted back and forth to Chicago, where she was VP of Marketing at Topin & Associates, a healthcare marketing firm.
Chris was in the 7th grade at La Colina, and Katie was in the 6th grade at Mountain View. Chris moved on to San Marcos, where football soon became his passion. He also made lifelong friends. Katie graduated from La Colina and was set to join her brother at San Marcos. She passed away in the summer of 2002. Maureen had already joined the board at Alpha Resource Center. Together with Alpha, Katie’s FUNd was established, with the mission of providing social and recreational experiences to teens with disabilities.
Chris now lives in Costa Mesa with his wife Katy and their boys Brennan, 12, and Graham, 10. Chris is President of Fourth Point Wealth, a financial planning firm.
